Year after year, students tell us they come to the University of Waterloo not only for our world-renowned reputation, but also for our co-operative education program and its countless benefits.

“Co-op is why I chose Waterloo.I loved the idea of studying for 4 months, then going to work for 4 months, getting a really good experience in the field that you’re studying,” says Kevin, an Engineering student.

Being able to work as part of your degree allows you to gain up to 2 years of paid work experience, make an average of $30,000 to $70,000 CAD, and possibly have a job lined up when you graduate.

How would you like to work with one of the world’s most accomplished corporations, such as Google, the Government of Canada, Walt Disney, Apple, Facebook, or Microsoft? With a network of 3,500 employers worldwide, Waterloo offers plenty of opportunity.

Xinyi, a Computer Science student, says “Waterloo’s co-op is not just recognized within Canada, it’s also internationally recognized. What the co-op program has brought me so far is life changing. Before Waterloo I’ve never imagined I’d be working for prestigious organizations like the Bank of Montreal and Sunlife Financial in Canada, or Morgan Stanley in New York City.”

Our co-op program provides services that help you build the knowledge and skills to land these jobs. You’ll learn to master the job search process, résumé writing, and interviews.

“I learned to become confident and adaptable, to respect others, and to work hard – to give it my all. I did whatever it took to achieve what I wanted in the future,” says Mamiko, a Health Studies student.

Waterloo’s co-op will prepare you to enter directly into the workforce, while earning a degree. It’s home to the world’s largest co-op program and will give you an edge over other university graduates.
